Brooklyn Nets part ways with coach Kenny Atkinson
Kenny Atkinson is no more the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. Just hours after Nets’ win over the San Antonio Spurs it was announced that he’s going to leave the team. Let’s dive into these news. Stay with us for our incoming best parlay bets this week, too.
The announcement of Atkinson’s resignation came somehow surprising on Saturday morning. Just hours before this the Nets beat the Spurs with 139-120 at the Barclays Center, but it was Kenny Atkinson’s last game as a head coach.
Jacque Vaughn, who was serving as an assistant coach to Kenny Atkinson this season, will be the interim head coach now.
When Brooklyn Nets added Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to their roster in the summer they hoped to be title contenders this season. It was really unlucky for the team that both Irving and Durant are struggling with injuries which didn’t allow them to show their worth with their new team. Kenny Atkinson was supposed to be coaching this team and guide it to the playoffs, but obviously this didn’t happen according to the plan as well.
Brooklyn Nets’ general manager Sean Marks said that the Nets actually planned to work in the long term with Atkinson, but they had to switch the plans now. “We had a great run and we enjoyed each other”, said Marks.
For Kenny Atkinson it was his 4th season coaching the Nets. In these years he managed to reach just one the playoffs – in 2019. This time the Brooklyn Nets started dreaming of the title, but Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s injuries did not allow them to show their true potential.
Is Kenny Atkinson’s departure from the Brooklyn Nets some kind suprising? Maybe. But a lot of pundits actually think it was a time for a change for the team. Stay with us for more news and more of the best parlay bets this week.
