Craig Stammen Is Joining San Diego Padres again

Continuing to prepare for the new season in the MLB, San Diego Padres are opting to complete their team with some well experienced players to guide the young guns. Good examples for such an activity on the market are the deals with Drew Pomeranz and Pierce Johnson, who will strenghten the team for the next season. Let’s see some details during our daily mlb picks.

It’s still not confirmed officially by the Padres, but the club is going to sign again the pitcher Craig Stammen. We expect confirmation of the news really soon, because it looks like a complete deal.

We currently know that Stammen is going to sign again with the Padres with a two years contract which is going to be worth $9 million.

Some might say it’s a risky business by the Padres because Craig Stammen is going to be 36-years old in March. He played three seasons in San Diego and managed to average 70 apperances per season. He had an average of 3.06 ERA during his time with the Padres.

Despite of the fact that the deal is still not announced, Craig Stammen talked to the press already. He stated his belief that the Padres could be a playoff contender this season. He added up that he wants to build up on what he already did with the team in the last three years.

“It was an easy decision to sign again with the Padres”, said Stammen. He added that we was feeling it like a compliment when the Padres’ new manager Jayce Tingler called him even before the deal was complete.

Can Craig Stammen help the San Diego Padres to reach the playoffs? It’s something we should wait and see, we suppose. For more interesting news and regular daily mlb picks keep up with us.
